It is named from the French word meaning little wheel.

Blaise Pascal introduced the form of Roulette game in his search for a perpetual motion machine.

The roulette wheel mechanism is a hybrid gaming wheel invented in the 18th century.

In the 19th century Roulette spread all over Europe and American, becoming one of the most famous and most popular casino games ever made.

Roulette is a basic very addictive game of luck, guesswork and probability of change that is famous all over the world.

Played in every in house casino and online.

Every person has heard of roulette, even if they cannot afford to play it people have seen it before.

The game is popular because it’s so easy to learn and no skill is required.

To join the Roulette table just place some chips on different numbers and win, that simple.

But what is the secret to the game’s popularity? The answer is simple- roulette easily ranks as one of the most dynamic games to play in a gambling venue.

As there are so many different betting options available to the players excitement and thrills like no other.

But make no mistake roulette may revolve around change, yet to a great extent, it is a strategic game.

A good amount of disciple, a proper strategy and adequate bankroll management are all required in order to walk away from the roulette table making a profit.

Roulette – The Basic Rules…

The rules of Roulette are quite straight forward to learn.

In this game you have a wheel that features red and black slots that have numbers from 1 to 36 on them.

In Europe single green zero slot is used or American tables double zero is also used.

Except for the wheel, you have a table which also features the numbers and several additional sectors on which you can place bets.

After all the players in the game have placed their bets on the table, the dealer spins the wheel and throws in a small white ball. Whichever is the number of the slot the ball lands in is the winning number.

Roulette – Types of Bets…

In Roulette, you can bet on a single number or different groups of numbers.

There are many betting combinations all of which bring you different percentage chance of winning resulting in different odds offered.

You can bet on a single number at odds of 35/1 or just red or black at even money.

There are three main categories in betting called the inside bets, outside bets and announced bets.

The first two categories are the basic ones and are used at Scotty Fun Casino.

The announced bets are only used when playing for real money.

Roulette – Inside bets…

Looking at the inside of the table you will see numbers zero to 36 and the rest are sectors for betting on groups of numbers:

Odd/even,red,black,1-18/19-36, columns and dozens.

The bets that you place on the numbers are called inside bets, whereas the bets that you place on the other sectors are called outside bets.

There are seven types of inside bets see the table below.

Bet Name Covered Numbers Odds
Straight Up One Number 35/1
Split Covers two numbers 17/1
Corner Covers four numbers 8/1
Basket Covers 0,1,2,3 8/1
Trio Covers 0 & 2 numbers 11/1
Street Three consecutive No’s 11/1
Double Street Two adjacent lines 5/1

You can see from the table, inside betting combinations are easy to remember.

As mentioned before different payouts for the different probability of bets.

Roulette – Outside bets…

The outside bets in Roulette are those bets that are placed outside the number fields.

The minimum bet is $50 in Scotty fun casino.

These sectors are easier to win on therefore the odds are even money.

The 5 common types of outside bets are:

Red or Black – Bet on the colour of the winning number.

Odd or Even – Bet on whether the winning number will be odd or even.

1 to 18 – 19 to 36 – Bet on whether the winning number will be lower than 19 or higher.

Dozens – Bet on one of the three dozen that are found on the layout of the table.

Columns – Bet from which of the three columns will the winning number be.

Roulette – Choosing Your Bets…

When you know all about the possible bets in Roulette, it’s time to try the game for yourself.

But how do you choose which bet to make?

It all depends on the strategy you would like to take or how big you would like to gamble.

If you like to take the progressive betting tactics or safe bets you choose even money bets.

If you like to win big or more like a gamble you would choose the straight up bets which is a single number giving the largest return or 35/1 but less chance of winning.

The strategy you choose will also help you in picking the amount you want to bet.

A strategy people like doing is betting large amounts on even money bets e.g. red or black and small bets on corner bets 8/1 or splits 17/1.

Each Roulette table will have different minimum bet stakes on the even money bets, this is because you have a higher percentage chance of winning on these bets.

Roulette – Playing Roulette…

The way you choose to play roulette will depend on a number of factors, not lease your bankroll and your betting strategy.

Put simply, if you don’t have much to play with, it isn’t a good idea to bet a large amount of your bankroll at a time.

If you think it’s impossible for a roulette wheel to land on black 4 times in a row, then you have never played roulette.

In other words, don’t count on certain bets coming in sooner rather than later. This might sound obvious, but remember that the outcome of any particular spin of the wheel is not affected by anything that’s happened before.

If the ball lands on zero, it can land on zero again on the next spin.

But the number of people that say don’t bet on zero it was zero last time, thinking that it can’t happen again.

When playing Roulette you are technically supposed to have placed a bet before the dealer spins the ball, but you can keep betting while the ball is still spinning around until you hear the words “no more bets” from the dealer.

Then it’s time to sit back, cross your fingers and wait to see where that ball is bouncing around and if it lands on your section.

Good etiquette is to wait until the dealer has finished paying out on winning bets before placing your bets on the next spin.

Roulette – The House Edge…

One thing that has been missing from all the talk of odds is the house edge.

At the end of the day the house usually wins, it’s just a matter of time.

The percentage odds in roulette are in favour of the casino.

The casino has to take its cut, and that cut comes when the ball lands on zero.

When that happens, the casino makes its cut.

When playing on American tables a double zero is also used and the casino edge is increased.

The zero is marked in green and on American tables they are usually both next to each other.

You don’t always lose if the ball lands on zero; some player’s strategy is to cover this option just in case at odds of 35/1.
